On Friday, June 26, at 9:30 p.m., the Natural Amphitheater in Piazzetta La Vantina in Capoliveri will host the last event of the month of June of the "Autorə in Vantina" review. The evening's guest speaker will be linguist and academic Federico Faloppa, professor of Italian Studies and Linguistics at the University of Reading, who will present his topical essay, "Disarming Speech. On the militarization of language."
Through the time-tested formula of the outdoor monologue, focused on listening and empathy, the Capoliveri festival offers an evening of the highest civic value.
Federico Faloppa will lead the audience in a lucid and necessary examination of the way we speak, write and communicate in the contemporary social context. At the center of the meeting will be an analysis of the increasing "militarization" of language: the increasingly frequent use of war metaphors, aggressive terms and polarized tones not only in politics and the media, but also in everyday speech and on social networks. An invitation to rediscover the importance of the ecology of words and to find strategies to "disarm" communication, returning to public debate the space of democratic confrontation, respect and constructive listening.
Location: La Vantina (Amphitheater) Square, located in the upper and characteristic part of the historic center of Capoliveri.
Time: Monologue begins at 9:30 pm. Early arrival is recommended to take a seat on the stone steps.
Admission: Free and free of charge.
Who it is suitable for: Teachers, journalists, students, communication and sociology enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to develop a critical look at the use of words in today's society.
