The 2023 Marathon Tour kicks off on Saturday, May 6 with the Capoliveri Legend Cup powered by Scott.
The race in Capoliveri, already the scene of the 2021 Marathon World Championship, is held in an exceptional naturalistic setting. The Capoliveri Bike Park runs on Monte Calamita, a promontory that offers trails of the highest level, magical scenery, with the sea always in sight. In addition to its naturalistic context, Mount Calamita is also important to Capoliveri from a historical point of view, thanks to the Vallone and Ginevro mines that have played an important role in the history of the town and the entire island of Elba.
In particular, the Capoliveri Legend Cup is characterized by two particular passages: the Muro della Legenda, so called because it is an authentic tear inside the town, surrounded by the cheering of the public, the words of the speaker, the colored arches, the multicolored advertisements of the sponsors and the fatigue-scarred faces of the participants; and the Asta descent, an extraordinary gallop towards the sea and the dream of all professional and non-professional bikers who land on Elba because peaks of almost 70km per hour are reached. A mix of great control and pure inebriation that cannot be renounced.
With the Capoliveri test, therefore, the Marathon Tour 2023 will kick off, for the return of a circuit that has made history in the marathon sector of mountain biking. Five trials between May and September, and five regions are also involved, with locations that have much to offer racers in terms of routes and logistics and natural beauty.
Also renewed are the regulations, which have many new features and will be very engaging.
One important Jersey will be up for grabs, that of Marathon Tour leader. Not only Elite men's, Under 23 men's and Open women's competitive categories, but also all amateur categories will wear the symbol of primacy. Below are all the categories for which the jersey is provided: Elite Male, Open Female, Under23 Male, Elite Sport, Master, Elite Sport Female, Master Woman.
Another important ranking will be the Team Cup, which all UCI/FCI affiliated clubs will be eligible for, where M/F Master athletes will bring points.

The beach is named after the islet a few meters from the shore, itself named after Napoleon Bonaparte’s sister who, according to a legend (probably created by a tourism entrepreneur in the 1960s) loved to sunbathe on these rocks.
Designated as a summer residence, Napoleon purchased the property from the Manganaro family in 1814, with the intention of transforming it into a comfortable and refined abode that would have nothing to envy from Parisian residences.
Built in 1724 by Grand Duke Gaston de’ Medici, it was Napoleon’s city residence during his first stay on Elba Island.
It was built as a sign of gratitude in 1606 by José Pons y León of the Dukes of Arcos, Spanish governor of Naples and first governor of the square of Longone (part of the state of principals). In September 1814 Napoleon, accompanied by Pons and Bertrand wanted to visit the sanctuary.
While the Elban economy today is based on tourism, the fact remains that the people of San Piero and the west coast (Pomonte) have also lived and continue to live off their granite and marble
