The weekend dedicated to European Archaeology Days continues at the Villa Romana delle Grotte in Portoferraio with a special child-friendly event. On Saturday, June 13, starting at 5:30 p.m., the splendid archaeological site overlooking the gulf will host "Ancient Potters," a fun and stimulating clay modeling workshop designed entirely for families and budding little historians.
The workshop, lasting about an hour and a half, will allow young and old alike to take a real leap back in time, discovering in a practical, playful and creative way the secrets of ancient Roman craftsmen.
Under the guidance of the operators, participants will learn about the historical techniques of working, manipulating and decorating raw clay. Each child will then be able to experiment with creating his or her own small ancient artifact-such as an oil lamp, jar or small crockery-discovering the satisfaction of shaping the material with his or her own hands. All materials needed to carry out the activity are included and provided by the organization.
Location: Villa Romana delle Grotte, Località Le Grotte, Portoferraio. The activity will take place outdoors, within the green areas surrounding the remains of the Augustan villa.
Time: The workshop will start promptly at 5:30 pm.
Who it's for: Children (accompanied by parents) and families who want to experience a different afternoon, combining story learning with hands-on fun.
Info and Reservations Required: To ensure availability of materials and proper space management, places are limited. Reservations must be made by sending a WhatsApp message to 320 4667668.
