On Saturday, June 27, starting at 6 p.m., the Villa Romana delle Grotte in Portoferraio opens its doors for a special afternoon dedicated to the great ancient history of the Island of Elba. Guides from the Tuscan Archipelago National Park will take visitors on an exclusive guided tour to discover one of the most important, majestic and evocative archaeological complexes in the entire Archipelago.
The meeting will offer a unique opportunity to learn more about the history and function of this luxurious patrician residence from the Roman era, which dominates the entire gulf of Portoferraio from above. During the tour, guides will illustrate not only the known architectural features of the site, but also share new interpretative hypotheses that have emerged from the most recent study campaigns.
At the end of the cultural walk among the archaeological remains, the experience will move to one of the panoramic terraces of the site for a small final aperitif. This will be the perfect time for a toast in company, enjoying the evening breeze and the colors of the sunset that ignite the harbor of Portoferraio.
