Tomorrow evening, Thursday, June 11, the heights of Marina di Campo will be transformed into an open-air astronomical observatory. Lovers of nature, walks under the stars and mythological stories are invited to participate in an atmospheric Night Walk at Piana di Castancoli, a guided hike suitable for the whole family, from adults to children, to discover the secrets of the celestial vault away from the lights of the coast.

An easy walk to the balcony of stars

The route, designed to be accessible and relaxing, will start from the medieval village of San Piero in Campo. After an easy walk of about 30 minutes immersed in the scents of the nighttime Mediterranean scrub, the group will reach the beautiful Piana di Castancoli, one of the darkest and most scenic areas of western Elba.

Once at the Plain, under Lello's expert guidance, the actual Reading of the Starry Sky will begin. During the stop, participants will learn to:

  • Recognize the major Constellations visible in the June sky.

  • Identify the names and understand the fascinating variety of colors of the Stars.

  • Time travel through the tales of classical Mythology related to the stars.
