The history of the museum began in 1914 when the scholar Mario Foresi donated his family's important art collection to the municipality: paintings, prints, furniture and drawings belonging to a wide chronological span and a variety of authors. Within this valuable art collection are works by great masters such as Telemaco Signorini, Plinio Nomellini, Llewelyn Lloyd and many others.
