The long-dreamed-of time for the vacations has finally arrived, and you find yourself needing to organize the essentials: a costume, a mask, a pair of running shoes or a comfortable backpack. Morphologically diverse and lapped by a generally mild climate, the island of Elba is an ideal place to keep fit and indulge in all kinds of sports and physical activities. Whether by land or sea, the possibilities are almost countless-it all depends on your passion and thirst for challenge.
Can’t get away from the sea and the saltiness? Let the wind guide you with a sail, or try your hand at modern SUP (aka “Standing Up Paddle”), coming straight from Polynesia and Hawaii. If dominating the waves is your thing, however, you can choose from surfing, wind surfing, and kyte surfing. In addition, as a national exclusive, you can literally fly over the surface of the sea with the jet-lev flyer, London-born and Elban by choice, using the very powerful water thrusters.

Do you prefer to keep your feet on the ground? Why not enjoy a nice game of golf or tennis surrounded by nature? Or maybe try archery and participate in a real medieval costume challenge, feeling like a period archer? For fans of magnesite and quickdraws, climbing and bouldering routes are available for all levels, whether overlooking the sea or rocky peaks, where you’ll be sure to cross paths with parkour and free-running enthusiasts. And if you should find yourself in the vicinity of old military facilities, don’t be frightened if a soldier in full uniform stands in front of you: you are simply witnessing the latest soft-air operation, a recreational-sports activity based on military tactics.

What, on the other hand, are the ideal activities for those whose head is always in the clouds? If you love to fly and are thrilled by the idea of gliding from high altitudes with a paraglider, know that there are several facilities on Elba to try this exciting discipline. The thrill of sailing along with the seagulls as you fly over the island’s spectacular scenery is indescribable.
In short, whatever your favorite discipline and aptitude for sports, you will always find professionalism and courtesy on the island. You will have the opportunity to learn about aspects of the area that will surprise you and make you fall in love with it.
