The Jubilee 2025 begins with an interior rediscovery of the value of prayer in daily life, all the more important on the day dedicated to the Holy Spirit, the Pentecost: it will not be a true Jubilee if it does not start from the Spirit and from the work accomplished in Mary. It is to celebrate this deep and indissoluble bond that, in view of the Holy Year, On the island of Elba, a Marian Route is inaugurated, with four sanctuaries dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
“Fifty days after Easter, the Church recalls the moment when Jesus’ disciples gathered with Mary in the Upper Room received the Holy Spirit. From that moment, the Church can be said to be born.
The disciples of the crucified and resurrected Jesus begin to witness this in word and deed in all known places.Today, in every part of the world there are Christians who, thanks to the gift of the Holy Spirit, with their lives bear witness to how Jesus is alive and show his Love for all mankind.
That is why every year on this day the community of believers gathers in prayer to welcome again and again the Holy Spirit whose gifts enable us to remain in the Love of Christ and to love one another as He has loved us.This year we will prepare for Pentecost with three days of prayer in three churches on our island dedicated to Our Lady. A kind of ‘Marian pilgrimage’, remembering that Mary is the one who, thanks to the Holy Spirit, conceived her son Jesus. We too unite with her in prayer as the apostles did, as we are witnessed in the book of the Acts of the Apostles in the first chapter: ‘All these (apostles) were persevering and united in prayer, together with some women and Mary, the mother of Jesus’.
